The pictures emerged on the day the nation marked the centenary of the Battle of the Somme

The shocking stills began circulating on social media on july 1, as the rest of the country commemorated the brave men who lost their lives at the Battle of the Somme 100 years ago.
The woman is seen squatting over the cenotaph in Grays, Essex with a can of what appears to be an alcoholic drink by her side.
Essex Police has now launched an urgent probe.
People are seen sitting near the woman while a car waits on a zebra crossing.
The town’s Royal British Legion (RBL) branch has condemned the woman – and called the act “totally disgusting”.
Secretary of the local RBL Sue Merrin said: “I’m shocked.
“Somebody must know something.
“Whoever is doing this should be ashamed of themselves.
“It’s totally disgusting.
